In some ways, the age in which Francis lived has similarities to our own. Then, as now, our Church was experiencing dramatic change, focused on spiritual and institutional renewal, reaffirming doctrine and practice. In every season, there are Saints like Francis de Sales whose eager and powerful intercession does not diminish with the passing of time. God, in His kindness, provides holy men and women to encourage His people, refresh the faith and doctrine and give energy to the Mission Christ delegated to His Church.
